Athletic Field Status Update
8/17/26 Swinson Park soccer field is closed. All other Carteret County Parks & Recreation fields & facilities are open.

Back to School Bash
Meet Us at Fort Benjamin for an evening of back to school fun for the whole family! Jump into the bounce house action or get wet and wild on the water slides and in the foam machine. Be prepared to get wet!!! Check out some of the arcade game fun as well!!! Food trucks will be on site for evening meals and snacks! Registration is required for those 5 and older, and the wristbands are $20 for the first child and $10 for each additional child.
Youth Beach Volleyball
Carteret County Parks and Recreation Department and Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department are partnering up to offer youth beach volleyball. All practices and games will be held at the Atlantic Beach Circle Volleyball Courts.
Practices are projected to begin the week of 9/7/2026.

The Adventure Club
This program is designed to serve our special population participants in the county, and will offer some traveling opportunities in Carteret County and surrounding areas.
This is the outline for our September day trip providing some great experiences in Beaufort County!
Meet us at Fort Benjamin on September 11th for a Field Trip to the Aurora Fossil Museum and fossil dig where you con come across some amazing finds in the fossil pits. Sifters and shovels will be provided .We will take the ferry from Cherry Branch to our destination.
Lunch will be in Grantsboro,.
We will travel back through New Bern with a short stop at the NC History Center before returning to Fort Benjamin.
We will leave at 9am sharp with return by 4pm.
Cost is $20 per person.

Yoga for All
Yoga is for everybody and every body! This is yoga for all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, open to all adults. Continuous classes are held on Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 10:00am, in the exercise room at Fort Benjamin Recreation Center.
