Athletic Field Status Update

1/9/26 - All Baseball and Softball Fields at Western Park are closed for renovation until further notice. Fort Benjamin U10 & Swinson Park soccer fields are also both closed for maintenance.

 
*This applies to ALL usage - no leagues, individuals, walkers, etc.  While we work hard and as fast as possible on these improvements, please do not enter these areas*   
 
All other Carteret County Parks & Recreation fields & facilities are open.

Thrifty Thursday Shopping Trip

Enjoy a day of exploring local thrift stores with friends.

Meet at Fort Benjamin Recreation Center by 9am, we plan to visit multiple shops in Carteret, and Onslow county, time allowing, then return at approximately 4pm.
Lunch is Dutch Treat

Friday Night Lights

Friday January 16th - Friday Night Lights is the ultimate evening out for youth ages 10-13! This program is all about giving kids a fun, safe, and exciting place to spend their Friday night with friends and peers.
 
Join us for our second Friday Night Lights event featuring an action-packed game of glow-in-the-dark capture the flag! We will divide those into teams and use glow gear and illuminated markers to compete in a fast-paced outdoor showdown. Snacks will be provided throughout the evening. Make sure to bring warm clothes and a water bottle.
 
Whether your child comes to compete, try something new, or just have a great time with friends, Friday Night Lights is sure to be a memorable night of fun! 
 

Knights of Columbus Yard Sale Trip

Join us as we travel to New Bern for the gigantic Yard Sale Event, hosted by the Knights of Columbus. This is a multi building sale with loads of areas to search for that special yard sale bargain!
Transportation is $10 per person
We will plan a stop for lunch once we all come together for pickup.
We will meet at Fort Benjamin Park at 9am to start the day, head to New Bern for the yard sale event, lunch and then possibly visit the Goodwill before making our way back to Fort Benjamin.

Return time is approximately 3pm.

Yoga for All

Yoga is for everybody and every body! This is yoga for all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, open to all adults. Continuous classes are held on Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 10:00am, in the exercise room at Fort Benjamin Recreation Center.
