Athletic Field Status Update
6/16/26 - Swinson Park field 4 is closed for maintenance. All other Carteret County Parks & Recreation fields and facilities are open.

Summer Open Gym Series
Get out of the heat and join us for our summer open gym series!
Session 1:
Ages: Rising 3rd-6th graders
Dates: July 2nd-August 6thLocation: Beaufort Middle School Gym
Time: Thursdays, from 10 AM-12 PM
$5/session or $20 for all 5 sessions
Session 2:
Ages: Rising 7th-10th graders
Dates: July 2nd-August 6th

Fun Friday Field Trip 2
Don't miss our next Friday Field Trip!
An inclusive activity day providing some great experiences in Carteret and surrounding counties for adults with special needs!
Meet us at Fort Benjamin on July 17th for a Field Trip to Fort Macon and a program with Rachel Bisesi from NC Coastal Federation.Next we will travel to Beaufort for an indoor activity with Lori Davis from the Rachel Carson Reserve and then have lunch.
After lunch we will visit the Aquarium before returning to Fort Benjamin to return home.
We will leave at 9am with return by 4pm.
Cost is $20 per person.

Program Notes
Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure everyone is ready on time. We leave at 9am sharp!
Participants must wear close toed shoes for these activities.
No electronics, we want this to be a social interaction with participants and staff alike. Phones are allowed for emergencies if needed.
Please make sure your camper knows to behave and be courteous of others. Any behavior that jeopardizes safety of self or others, or any behavior that is blatantly disrespectful or inappropriate to staff, counselors, fellow campers or other person’s, will result in the immediate termination of participation. This means the camper will have to leave the camp (someone from home will need to pick them up). Space is highly limited, and poor/bad behavior can result in not being able to attend future dates as well.

Carteret Cruisers Bird Dawgs Baseball Trip
Carteret Cruisers are on the road again! Our next trip will be on July 31st, for a Down East Bird Dawgs baseball game! It will be Ducks Unlimited Night with fireworks following the game! We will leave from Fort Benjamin at 4 pm and travel to Kinston for the game. Travel time is approximately 2 hours. Our return time is approximately 11 pm or later based on game length. Registration is $30 per person which includes tickets. Dinner will be at the ball field, what's a baseball game without a hot dog! Registration is available at ccpr.recdesk.com. Adventure Awaits... Down East Adventure Camp is a partial day camp focused on exploring Carteret County and beyond. Each week will feature field trips around the county, sports, nature education, STEM activities and most importantly FUN! Space is limited. Register today!

Golfin' Dolphin: Mini Golf & Go Kart
Join us for an exciting field trip to Golfin' Dolphin in Cape Carteret for a fun-filled day of mini gold and go-kart racing! Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy friendly competition, outdoor activities, and a great social experience with friends.
This trip will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. We will leave from the Fort Benjamin parking lot in front of the main building at 11:00 am, go kart first, head over to Western Park for lunch, then finish the day with some mini golf, and plan to return to Fort Benjamin between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Participants will bring their own lunch, although extra money for food and vendors at Golfin' Dolphin is also recommended. The cost for this trip is $30 per participant.

Yoga for All
Yoga is for everybody and every body! This is yoga for all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, open to all adults. Continuous classes are held on Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 10:00am, in the exercise room at Fort Benjamin Recreation Center.
